Marilyn,
Thanks for your and everyone's help. This is a great place to be!
Now, another ?...Can you duplicat layouts someway without actually plotting out each tile? Is there a secret to quickly laying out a puzzle with a key? Just a thought. Some people seem to have gobs of puzzles done on the same day in the same format. I'll be watching for your answer.
Thanks, Terriann

Hi Terriann! Good to see you again! Happy to be of help. You do need to make each of your layouts unless someone was to send you a bunch of theirs. BUT, what those of us that launch alot of layouts do, is create layout templates. Here is the link to the instructions: mtehelpfulhugs.proboards85.com/index.cgi?board=howto&action=display&thread=11Please let us know if you have any questions, and enjoy! Another Karma Hug to you!

Alrighty, I have been combing through this board to find the answer to my question, but could not find it. So.. I am hoping that my questions make sense...
Say I made 10 layouts and bump them to 10,000 points. Is there a way you can save them at those points and replay them over and over? Or do I have to save the unshared layouts, then bump them and play them?
I also read where people find layouts and save them to play later ( offline or online ).. do you save these layouts in the same manner as you would layout templates? Do you get the full point value they were set at.. or when you go back to play them later, do they lose point value from being played a lot?
I really hope that my questions make sense.
~Lily

Hi Lily! The way to save your layouts after you have bumped them to 10K is to back out of your game and save (I zip) the MY file. Then you play them offline later. Your player can only play those layouts once for the 10K. But any number of players can play that same zipped MY file for the 10K. So if you have more than one player. You'd play the layouts at 10K. Then You'd back out of your game, put the MY file into your game again fresh, and have your other player play them at the 10K. Does that help?

I need to ask a stupid question about using your main player to bump layouts. I was once told by someone in a message exchange that you are only allowed to bump so many times before the MTE god changes your status from Rarified Lightning Pig to Newbie. Something about 999? I just looked at the times file in my player folder, and it says 997 KB. Is this a myth, or should I be using a bogus player to bump my layouts? Mikey

Hi Mikey! Back in the beginning when when we started to hit 90 stars, if you clicked too far, you would fall off of the 90 star list and become a newbie again. Now, if you over click once you hit 90 stars, you'll become a newbie again, BUT you will remain at 90 stars. So, no, you cannot become a newbie again from BUMPING. You need to be backing up and watching the size of your playerS file, not times file to help determine when you will need to run the FIX on your game. And you are, of course, BACKING UP your PLAYER file ALL the time, right?

What do you mean by over clicking? After you reach 90, you can't use that player any longer, otherwise you'll become a Newbie? Or once you go past the person in the number one spot, you will? Or, lol, if you miss a tile and click? Mikey

Hi Mikey!! There is approx 23 million + points between stars, once you hit 90 stars, there really is no need to continue to click. Some players want to get as high on the list as possible, so they continue to click. If they go over the max points for a star, they will become a newbie again, not a RLP. No, that player cannot start over but if you look at this list: www.mahjongtowerseternity.com/topplayers.phpYou will see that alot of players at the top are listed as Newbies, not RLPs. That's because they were trying to get as close to the top of the list as possible, and went over the points for that "star" so were put back as a newbie, but cannot move anywhere else. The person at the top of the list, Nana K, she is a member here, Karen, at the time when she hit the top, she actually fell off the list. She made it to 90 stars, accidentally over clicked and then was no longer on the list. OMG! Can you imagine all that work, just to have accidentally over clicked yourself off of it? What a panic set in. We were on the phone, etc etc, she ended up putting in one of her old back ups and it took and she got back onto the list. Since that time, BFG has fixed their system so that you no longer fall off of the list, but if you click so many points, you can show up as a "Newbie" yet you are still at 90 stars. Does that make sense? This was you mini MTE history lesson for today. ;D

I know Aunt Mieke!! The stories we could tell! Karen and I were about to pull our hair out trying to figure out how to get her back on the list! Luckily the back up worked. Whew. ;D I should copy that post and put it in our MTE History thread.

Pete! Great to see you here and posting! you can bump your layouts offline. You'd first have to launch the layouts, then you'd bump them as normal, just offline. The drawback to this is that they are not bumped right away for the other players. BUT if there is someone grabbing your layouts right away and it is causing frustration, some will decide to do this and avoid the aggrevation. *Another reason to do this would be if you are having game crashing problems while bumping. If you are offline and the game crashes on you. The points will not go down on those you have already bumped. Depending on what caused the crash, you may have to re-bump tho and I'd get your puter checked out for low memory etc. Let me know if this does not answer your question and I'll be happy to help!! Karma Hug to ya!!

My guess is you have the European version of 1.3 and I THINK that version allows you to bump via the shuffle key? This is what I've heard. The US version of 1.3 makes you wait 30 seconds between bumps. You actually have to click on a tile to start the clock going, then wait 30 seconds before you can click hint or shuffle and get the question of you want to save your game or not. So to bump one layout would take 5 minutes. Karma Hug to ya dear!
