Resizing Individual Image
Menu bar Image Resize/resampleRemember - if the image is very large to begin with, it is better to reduce it before Crop/Enhance colours/Sharpen.I do this by clicking on Half.Reminder - tiles have to be 80 pixels wide, 96 pixels highMake sure the Preserve Aspect Ratio box is uncheckedIgnore the bottom number (DPI)- it refers to printing

Click on Add if you just want to e.g. convert a gif file to jpg or png or to just resize one/two etc images. Do this by clicking on image then Add. or Add all to convert whole folder

All my files are now in place to be converted. Where do I want the converted files to end up? You can send them to a new folder or just back to the original folder. Do you want them to stay in jpg format or change them to png? How do I resize them? The 3 buttons that do all this are Browse

If you just opted for resize you will now have a folder full of tile sized images.
If you also chose to convert to png - and used your original folder as your destination - then you will have a folder full of both file types - i.e. duplicates. This is because the command to delete original files in the Advanced dialogue box does not work.
So you have to delete all the jpgs - it's a royal pain in the ...

Why convert to png then?
Some people are of the opinion that png "feathers" images, rounds them off, softens them.
It can - it can also make your tiles look like the "paint is peeling off".
So for beginners I suggest you stick with jpgs.

You can convert gif files in irfanview, but you lose the animation.
And the background colour changes. You can get round that, but it's complicated.
So enough for now.
