Hi Guyz My views abit different to that Duaine & Sal - to me a mechanic has all the resources to work with - eg: the car, the sound of it, the books etc What Bfg has experienced is alot different to that - people are trying to pull things together over a huge area & with the amount of individual companies they provide for - theyv gone into this blind - this is Bfgs servers we're talking about, not Bfg itself, i doubt the people working for the servers even know wot Mte is let alone how it works. Bfg will but until the game was connected thr was no way for anyone to test the game & its more than likely through the feedback they're no doubt recieving that they'l find out about the hiccups to iron them out. Mte wont be the only game thats been affected to this sort of degree - Bfg have a huge stock they are accountable for & theyr not going to be able to deal with each one all at once - thats unrealistic - in my view theyr doing the best they can with wot theyv got under the circumstances, Thr number one priority was to get back online for thr players asap - theyv done that & in pretty good time considering it all - only now will they get a wider picture of how it has affected Bfg & thr games Yes it is very frustrating & a let down that its not running at 100% - but realistically - can we really expect it to be this early into the connection It hasnt upset me too much as yet - joined esnips last night & been sorting & uploading files - not that they much good to anyone at the mo coz theyd all probably turn into 500 pointers if those dldn them have been online with thr players today Not to worry - itl all get sorted in the end to ya all

Well, then let us compare it to the missile industry of which I was in the data processing department. We had to have all the information correct before we launched missiles into outer space. I don't think the astronauts would have been too happy if we would have said "Oh well let’s try it and see if it works. I only made it relate to service stations because I thought all could relate to that analogy. Our company once did this with paychecks when they transferred to a new computer system. You think this game is bad. Try hitting the paychecks of approx 35,000 employees. You all have to admit this is nothing compared to being hit in the pocketbook. I was only trying to express that test cases should always be ran first. Remember it is ONLY a game.

Same thing is happening here Fi ... I DID however find a way for me to play offline and get the 10,000/30,000 pts with my one and only player name. I had *backed up* before I went online ... so I went and pulled my *back up* back into my game and now all the layouts I have that y'all have all sent me are coming back as 10,000 verses the 500. Granted I lost a few points, as I had brought my game online to upload my points then went back offline and played a few more. But that's ok, I have that file so I will just replay it. Seems it didn't affect MINE until I released a test launch. So ... as Marilyn always says *BACK UP* and if ya did right before going online then go back to that point and keep playing offline until BFG gets it all fixed. Course I was lucky with this back up...I did it right before going online just in case all those points crashed my game. Karma to Marilyn for tattooing that info into my brain

Connie, thank you for that - i back up me player after every individual file i play - i did try putting the backup in this morn with a different my file but as soon as i launched from the backup player again everything dropped back to 500 Somehow the player folders are corrupt as soon as you launch Tonight i tried somthing different & me game is now launching & bumping I retried the original folder that was in me game wen the game crashed - no go I retried the backup with a different my file - no go Then i dug me launching players folder (a 2nd backup tucked away that i only periodically backup) from the last backup i did of that folder which took it back to the 23rd of May 09 (around 30kbs lighter than the original in me game - dont play me launching players very often) I put this folder in me game with a my file of 1kb - (dropped the los from a previously played file in the other game) Booted up the game & shared an lo & it bumped to 10,000 - then pulled in the los id shared from the 2 no go attempts - all go without a prob What i have done since is put those bumped los my file from the May backup into me original player folder & took it online to see what would happen & it held - so shared another couple of los & bumped them & its running fine Hi Duaine Yes i hear wot you saying & get yr point & i fully agree with you that its just a game I have quoted this bit - "I was only trying to express that test cases should always be ran first" & i'll ask you this - keeping in mind that not everyone plays or knows how to play offline & they depend on los they download in game How do you test a game that needs an internet connection to find out if theres any probs without 12,000 people clicking on the play button to see if its working yet? The problem the game has is an online problem & needs testing online & we all finding the problems & letting them know so they are aware of exactly what they are & can do somthing about thm if thr able but it could very well be our own player folders that are the problem & not Bfg at all No offense intended Duaine - just clarifying my personal view of it Hugz to ya - Fi

Fi ... you are SOO awesome woman now is ... are your other players files still messed up Please tell me they are not permanently corrupted by this I tried launching that first time under my one and only name and it didn't corrupt it .. just made me *back up* some pts and replay them. I'm going to feel so bad if you did all this testing for us to be able to launch and lost some of your reg players Karma sweetie for EVERYTHING you've done for me and everyone else!!! I jumped SIX stars offline thanks to you, Doris & Becky for keeping me *supplied* with files And Duaine ... don't take this in a *bad way* plz ... but you keep stating *it's ONLY a game* ... BUT this game resulted in this forum which resulted in ALOT of online friendships that we all value very highly. There are ALOT of friends I have made via this game and this forum that I would not have if not for ONLY a game. So yes you are right to some it may be only a game ... but to alot of us it is more than that as it has brought people together from all over the world that have bonded. And the missle industry I deffinitely have different views on that one ... what about The Challenger & Columbia to start with 's to ALL

Connie - you have no idea how relieved i am to say that i did not lose 1 single player - Omg i thought i was going to have to drop the lot I have 4 players in me launching player folder Spazza * my usual player & bumper Spazza's 90* launchpad Spazza Hugz 4 Hugz (Anniversarys) & Spazzattak for me 100 lo launches (recent 1 since Axife & lo follow on from me original Spazza player wen i first started playing) In me other game im running up Spazzattack at Mte NZ - a player i created in me early days that was just sitting dormant - like me Spazzazz player was that i pushed through earlier this year Was alot to bargain with but i didnt intend on losing any one of them & OMG ya sholda seen the state of me desktop!!! i had player files & my files all over the place & all named with wot id done with each so i knew where i was at with it all - seriously thort it was over for me players wen id realised id been online with me back up as well - couldnt believe that i hadnt backed the backup up before going online & then it clicked - the one & only other backup i had was the 2nd backup that i dont back up all that often that sits on another seperate drive - wen i saw it was around 30kb short of me most recent 1 i was gutted but decided it was better than nothing & i could catch thm points up any ol' time - was more important to have me players. I still have no idea wot made me think of taking the trial los id done online that had worked in that 2nd backup & putting them in me everyday launching players folder - i just did it - i guess somewhere in me head i knew i was guna have to ditch thm but not before id tried everything - & it just happened to work - i have no idea how - it just did - i was so shocked i was almost too scared to back out of the game in case something went wrong - this was me main playing folder & has been since day 1 & i sure didnt wanna lose it - it was kinda funny coz i was looking at me screen thinkn to meself - well i cant leave it thr lookn back at me 24/7 - otherwise i woldnt be able to launch me files - so just bit the bullet & exited, backed it to me desktop & went straight back in & to my relief - nothing had changed - the points stayed as they were & i launched another lo just to make sure all was well & so far so good. Now i dont have to work the points up in the 2nd backup coz its NOW UPDATED to today - so i have 2 copies of 2nd backups - the 1st in the position i found & used it in today (30kb light) + an updated 1 of me now launching players in case something goes array with the game while repairs are still happening with the servers - & i will be updating that 2nd 1 just a little more regularly than i have done previously Other to that me desktop is looking pretty much back to normal Grt to see a few on launching tonight - its a start & thats a good thing

Thank you Marilyn for teaching us and as Fi said 'imprinting our brains' with SAVE YOUR FILES.... thanks to that I followed your advise, went back to get an old player, lost only a bit of what I had played and wheeeewww! got my game back. Everything seems to be going well today, Ann, Alex, MR GP and Margriet all launched, I picked the layouts up at 10,000 and they seem to have kept their value, soooooo... let's see if the problem is solved..... I hope no more surprises, we have had enough, and I understand the frustration of Connie and Fi, it is a game, but when we have spent so much time it becomes almost a quest and it becomes really maddening. I hope that we all improved our patience and tolerance to frustration through this event.

I did not put a back up folder in, just waited a day for BFG to sort things out, and everything was fine. We have had these problems before with every lo being 500 points, and it is a problem with the server.

I'm glad to see the game is getting somewhat sorted out. Also that the Back-Up Nag has done her job. ;D I'll have to give the game a go when I get home, not going to mess with it while on vacation. Great to see you all here sharing. Lots of hugs to you all.

Thank you Connie and Fi.... you were of great support during this trying experiene (lol) good to have experts who are also helpful and patient with the lesser computer gifted people like me. I am not good at understanding and following instructions, but the ones you both give are great. Thank you again for saving the day for us.

I did not put a back up folder in, just waited a day for BFG to sort things out, and everything was fine. We have had these problems before with every lo being 500 points, and it is a problem with the server. Hi Ann, Personally im not entirely convinced that its the server - not only because of what my experiences were while trying to get my players working - but also because of the Los dropping to 500 points thread in The How Do I... section which i have just finished reading - where 2 players experienced this problem individually & at different times without it affecting our game play - & i have just realised that BarbAnn deleted her player when this happened & she used her backup & it worked - in my position i couldnt use my backup as it was in exactly the same state as my player folder due to going online with it without thinking to back it up - hense my use of the older 1 i had sitting - because i didnt know what was causing the corruption instead of a launching file i used a played before file - with it being played already etha the game would recognise it as such or it would corrupt it when i did a test lo - if it corrupted it then it didnt matter coz i could just dump it along with the player folder - in this case it worked & it was only after transferring that my file from the older backup into my corrupt game (minutes after having tested that folder + my corrupt backup folder online) that it worked The test los i did - these appear 1 after the other on the launch screen (currently at around page 8 of the launch screen) - player used - Spazzattak - & please note: this was after a launch by another player - hense my reason for entering the game at this time Didnt make & share 1 in my usual player (corrupted) - just tried bumping 1 already there - pts 500 Backup player (corrupted) - shared & bumped lo = back up file trial - pts 500 Older player folder, an already played my file - shared & bumped lo = Older Backup Player - pts 10,000 - shared & bumped lo = Its working - lo bumped - pts 10,000 - shared & bumped lo - Yep - all good here then grabbed me previous test los from the launch screen which still appeared at 10,000 & they pulled in keeping the point value I knew this old player backup worked so this was to be my now player folder & exited the game About 6-7 los up from the los above you can see the test los i did in my corrupt player folder after id transferred the working my file into it when i opened the game i knew the 10,000 los would sit for a few seconds before any corruption overtook them so i waited - nothing happened - & then shared & bumped lo with player Spazza* =Retry Original - pts 10,000 - then shared & bumped = Yes!! Original player & so on - i then emailed a few people & posted in the Mte sites & waited & i didnt have to wait long as you can see on the launch screen. My hesitation about exiting the game with this folder was because it was a corrupt folder & altho things were appearing ok i wasnt so sure they were going to stay that way after exiting - thankfully they did Ann this explanation is why i am not convinced that this was server error - & that is still yet to be seen - im going to keep the odd old player folder & a played lo file here & there - just for interest sake should something like this happen again Like backup folders - its very rare i say anything unless i can back it up No offense intended Ann so please dont read anymore into this than what im saying - this is just the view of the situation & what took place at the time to you - Fi
