I finally got a new computer in June. The only drawback was that it had Vista already on it. Even though I liked Windows XP, I decided to keep Vista and after another player helped me find my player file, I was able to play MTE with only a few minor problems. On November 25 my oldest son installed Windows 7 on my computer and now I can't play with my saved player folders that I played with using Vista. Every time I put in one of them I get a new player screen just like you do when starting MTE for the first time. I got in touch with Fiona, sent her my player file and it did the same when she opened her game with a copy of Katie 2's last saved player. If I put in a player from before I got my new computer, the game opens and is ready to play. I really don't want to lose 13 stars so if someone knows what is going on and how I can get the game to accept my player files, I would appreciate it very much.

No prob 9Judy - we managed to get it resolved Hey Katie - was having a good think about it all last night & i suddenly remembered having a similar prob with my game some time back now - was running 1 of me games on a flashdrive at the time - but twigged to it really quickly because it affected me launching players - have resolved it since by getting an external harddrive Took abit of hunting but tracked the post down - wrote about it here - 4th post from the bottom i think it is - 2nd part of me post mtehelpfulhugs.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=howto&action=display&thread=5&page=2Although yours was a saving issue - & i still have no idea how when yr saving from the same place - unless Vista just decided to move things around abit on ya - iv heard it does wierd things like that sometimes - anyway i have no idea what caused me players to disappear but they just did - it happened a few times Very bizarre game with all its wee ghosts

Thanks Fi. I read the post. Those are some busy little gremlins!! Disappearing players, invisible mys, wrong dates, etc. sure makes for a fun time. Just glad I didn't lose Katie 2 completely.
A karma coming your way for all your help.

Here's an update on my MTE problem. After answering my first email and asking a couple of questions, the tech dept. at BFG decided they needed to do more investigating into the matter and then this evening I got the following email back from them. "Thanks for writing back. After doing some further research on this problem, it appears that the old profile from the Vista computer may have been corrupted, which is why the dates are not displaying properly and the profile is not able to brought over. I am very sorry for all of the trouble. As an apology for the inconvenience, I'm going to give you a FREE Game Coupon that is good for any downloadable game on our site. I have included the Coupon Code below, as well as a link with more information on how to redeem it. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions." End of email. Here are two screenshots, although not very good ones, of my player file on 11-25 and 10-27. Notice the date at the bottom and the date at the top of the screen doesn't match in the first one. I got my new computer June 22 and as stated in other posts, the first file showing different dates inside the folder was August 14, so I had Vista for about six weeks when this happened. Vista didn't seem to mind the wrong dates and Katie 2 kept going up the star chart. It was only when I changed to Windows 7 that it became a problem. I thought just by saving my player I was okay. I would save every day unless I didn't play very much that day. Then when I played again, I would use the same player that was in the game, play, save and so forth. I never thought to check the files inside to see if all dates were corresponding to the date I was saving the player. As long as I was advancing in the game I just continued playing and saving the way I always had. But now I'm going to be checking the files much more closely!! So if any of you are using Vista, you should check the files inside the player file each time you save it. Be sure all the files say 'modified' to the day you are saving the folder. If you find the dates are not modified, go back to the last player you saved and check those files. Use the latest player with the modified files the next time you play MTE. You might want to upgrade to Windows 7 in the future and you don't want to have go back and redo several stars. It's probably a good idea to do this whether you have Vista or not. And, to answer BFG, No, a new games does not help! I'm addicted to MTE although I am not a happy player at the moment.

Geeze, Katie.. I have never even noticed the dates before... have not looked that closely I guess. I have Vista right now so I guess I better go check. Karma hug for you, sweetie, for bringing this to our attention.

Its not only Vista Tia - i run Xp & losing me launching players is why i started checking me backups - have done it ever since - even with me playing player that i play offline with i always check me backup against the 1 in me game - this game is so unpredictable with the things it does - im still at a loss as to how when Katie has backed up from the same place that everything had been backdated & saved as a new player - maybe that is a Vista prob - kinda wish i had it so i could try some things out on it Katie - have you been playing & is it saving as it should be now?

OMG that all is just too frightening for words. It's gone waaaaay over my pez head. I doubt I ever have to see Vista now that windows 7 is out. I sure hope BFG figures out how go get the game working correctly as I'm sure with you Katie, NO a new game does NOT help. I still have the disc I got the 1.2 BFG version on saved. I've not played in like forever it seems, but for some reason it gives me comfort to have it, not that it would do my any good now. ;D Thanks so much to you all for sharing whats going on with you and your game as I know it does help others. Hugs all around.

And I continue to have problems with 7 and MTE - my player file is growing, but I am stuck on 73 stars. I think I am going to insert my player file in the MTE game on my work computer whic is still running XP and see what happens then.

Donna have you noticed if yr times file is still increasing as well? This increases like yr players file but is able to be removed if it has stopped working - you can test it out by dragging it out of the player folder & letting the game create a new 1 when you open it (dont delete the original until yv tested yr game with the game created 1) play an offline file or 2 & see if it boosts you when you go back online Another possibility is yr pointsmap file - it may have stopped working - you could also test this file out by doing the same as the above (again - dont delete it at this stage till yv tested the game created 1) again play an offline file or 2 to see if this budges anything when ya go back online also - are you sure yr saving from the correct place?
