Hullo everyone! I've just returned from vacation and have some results to an expirement from my mad scientist lab. It's been talked about here and there about how a player will suddenly make a huge jump in stars or positions (rank #'s) in one day......
Weeeeeelllll, while on vaca, I did not have any internet connection at the vacation house, Here are the facts:
1: When I left for vaca, I was position (rank) #158, 49 stars
2: When I got home I had been jumped by three players and was #161
3: While on vaca I only clicked away 49 KB's worth of play offline via saved unplayed zip files, most layouts were worth 10,000 pnts each (aka..... my playerS file grew by 49 KB's from 431 to 480)
4: After I transferred my player file back onto my home desktop puter, opened the game, it took approx 20-30 mins for all the points to push to the server and I now have 53 stars and am at rank #155.
Sooooooooooooo, it looks like I just jumped 4 stars in 20ish minutes when in fact I've just played here and there for the last week, all offline.
Here are some notes of interest I've found: When I got home I I had to DL a LO and play it to help the points get moving/pushing to the server.
So far, on must of the MY files I've checked that I Played while I was gone, do NOT show my times on BFG server, but they showed played in my game and the times show up in MY TIMES and since I did jump 4 stars I'd say all the points counted.
I'm soooooooooooo HAPPY to be home!!! HUGS HUGS HUGS all around, and I hope to see you all in the game on Sun! One more hug for ya! Marilyn
Well, to continue you to bore you with my curiousity and findings, here are some more facts. Last week end I was out of town and could not play online. So I played ALOT on my laptop. When I got home, I put the player file from my laptop into my desktop game. I had played about 20 zip files. After about 30 mins, I had earned two new stars. So anyone looking in from the outside that happened to be tracking my stars (I know there are those of you that keep an eye on other players ) It would look like I just earned 2 stars in less than an hour. When in fact it was HOURS and HOURS of playing over a few days of 20 zip files worth of LO's to earn those stars. The points were just pushed online to the server all at once.
Oh, and for the times showing up, I decided to put ALL 20ish MY files that I had played into my game, one by one, I'd have to let each one load and eventually my times THAT WERE FAST ENOUGH would show on the server. My clicking is lots slower on the laptop as I'm in the car or sitting weird etc so I'd not show on the FASTEST times list from the game, but if I went to the MTE server so I could see further down the list, I'd eventually find myself.
This was on most of them. On some of the LO's, my name never did appear on the server.
Also, the other night I was playing offline, and when I went back online, the first part of the MY file I could see my times in but not the lower portion. BUT as long as the points show in MY TIMES, THE POINTS ARE COUNTING!
So there ya go, more boring facts from your mad scientist.
