Tia, If I can make tile sets anyone can and I love it. Maddy gave me the directions enabling me to make the sets. I hope people enjoy using our tiles in their games half as much as we do making them. Looking forward to seeing your sets.

Question about the tilesets - do they have to all be JPG's? I would love to make my own tilesets that I can draw and design my self - for example, with the paint program. Is this possible? Or does it have to be graphics./photos?

Step 4 - Where it gets complicated!Resizing and Enhancing Your Images I use irfanview for this because it's FREE! and EASY! (like me You can use other programmes such as photoshop, Picture Manager etc(I'm hoping Duaine will do a segment on photoshop ) BUT - there is also a great feature in irfanview called - batch conversion - which can make the resizing so simple. The tiles for sets in MTE have to be .BMP .JPG .PNG80 wide 96 highWhat you doEdit/cropEnhance coloursSharpenResizeEnhance coloursSharpenSaveHoweverI sometimes resize first - it depends on the size of your original image. Wallpaper size or digital camera size BIG images - I halve them and halve again BEFORE cropping. Enough for now

Tinwoman - Marlene?
You can use images you have created as long as you convert them into JPG, BMP or PNG format.
I will do screenshots for the next steps using irfanview - split into 2 sections
Section One - Image manipulation Section 2 - Batch conversion

Oh - editing by cropping - Why?
As Barb said - this helps to make your tile clearer and crisper because it centres/brings into focus the important part/key topic of your image.

Wow!! This is really informative, Maddy! You will make tileset makers out of us all!! I knew there were some fun things you could do with irfanview but I am learning more every day! Also, some day, please teach us how to do a screen shot.. they are so helpful! I guess that should be in another thread....Lol!! Karma coming in the next hour!
