On the image above - can you see the black lines?
I did those by left clicking on the picture and outlining the area.
Then - back up to menu bar - click on EDIT
from drop down dialogue - choose - CROP SELECTION

from drop down dialogue choose ENHANCE COLOURS

This image is quite light, so no need to increase brightness. I'll just increase contrast

Now - I'm making tiles - so to give extra definition I often frame them.
So - Image - CANVAS SIZEclick on CHOOSEYou can change the numbers to increase/decrease frame size

Oops - see - knew I'd forget something vital
All of the above would be completely wasted unless you go back up to menuFILESAVEYESAfter each step and ONLY save after each step if you like the result.
Practice on images or make a copy of your folder before making your tileset.When you click on save a grey dialogue box appears to the right of the image display - if you move the slider at the top of this to the halfway point it keeps the quality of your image, but reduces the "bit" size - very useful for large images.
