This is how to save layouts to play offline for if the server goes down, or you cannot connnect to the internet but would still like to play the game or have DL'd alot of high point layouts but do not have time to finish playing them
1: Go to your Player file, open it 2: right click on your MY file, select "send to" then at the top of the options will be an option to send the file to a compressed folder. This is "zipping" your file. 3: save the zipped file somewhere, I keep mine in a folder on my desk top. I give each zipped MY file a date and time name, as I save lots of these 4: IMPORTANT: In order for the layout to retain it's HIGH point value, the layouts must be played OFFLINE, once you go back online, any unplayed layouts that YOU HAVE IN YOUR GAME, will reduce in point value.
After I play the layouts, I go back online and the points are pushed to the server.
Have fun!!!

Hi Margit, With Marilyn away, I will answer this for you. You can play as much as you want off-line before you register your points. I do find my game a little reluctant to start up online if I have played a lot off line, and sometimes have to back out, and restart.

I have a question for those of you who save and play off line. When I save a large amount of LOs, and put them in a zip file to play later off line - can I only play one zip file at a time before going back on line? I am so afraid I will lose my points after playing so many LOs if I don't go on line after that, but before I play another zipped file - does that make sense to anyone? Thanks!

Hi TW, No, you do not have to go back online each time after you play a zip file. I do IF I CAN, just cause I like to see my times on the BFG server, but it is not neccessary. Here are some stats from my vacation:: How a player will suddenly make a huge jump in stars or positions (rank #'s) in one day...... Weeeeeelllll, while on vaca, I did not have internet connection in the house we were renting Here are the facts: 1: When I left for vaca, I was position (rank) #158, 49 stars 2: When I got home I had been jumped by three players and was #161 3: While on vaca my playerS file went from 431KB to 480KB. most layouts were worth 10,000 pnts each 4: After I transferred my player file back onto my home desktop puter, opened the game, it took approx 1 hour for all the points to push to the server ** more on this below 5: I am now position #155, 53 stars Sooooooooooooo, it looks like I just jumped 6 spots and earned 4 stars in less than an hour when in fact I've just played for the last week, all offline. **Here are some notes of interest I've found: When I got home all the points did not push to the server. After about 40 minutes of waiting to see me move and only having moved one spot, I remembered, sometimes ya have to DL a layout and play it to kinda wake up the BFG server that, HEY! I'm here, grab ALL my points! After I grabbed a LO and played it, the rest of the points showed up! ALSO, my times have NOT shown on the MTE server in all of the zip files that I played offline that I have checked. (I played about 20 files probably and did not check them all) Sooooooooooo as long as your times ARE showing in your game, they are counted even if you do not show on the BFG server times list. Anyway, there are my findings, just thought it may be of interest to some. I'm soooooooooooo HAPPY to be home!!! HUGS HUGS HUGS all around, and I hope to see you all here and in the game! One more hug for ya! BTW, I also posted this info in the MTE Fun section.

Hi, Everyone,
I'm really very new at this and my questions my sound silly, but still if I don't ask I won't learn so here goes. When I click on the 'my file' there are several icons and when I click on one of them I'm asked what I would like to open it with. I'm at a loss at what to do, so would someone please tell me?

Katie! I'm glad you were able to join! Your MY folder should only contain ONE file/icon inside of it. So if you are zipping JUST your MY file, you should only have the ONE file/folder/object, really not sure what the correct puter term is for it, and you drag that item into your Player file, (The file that you are BACKING UP everytime you play, right?)No question is stupid, we are here to help. So the above may sound confusing and perhaps someone will come in and explain it better, but there should only be one file inside of your MY file, IF you are putting your MY files into folders. Unless you have been sent a ZIPPED file that contains many MY files, but there is only ONE active MY file in your game at one time. Welcome Karma hug to you and another Karma Hug thrown in for asking the question.

Thanks, Marilyn for the kind words and the hugs. Right now I need a few. When I click on my 'player' folder this is where the icons are. There is one that has 'my' under this but when I click on this I get a window with a lot of options asking me what I want to open the file with. That is what is confusing to me. I thought if I clicked on the 'my' file, I would get all my layouts, but that's not the case.

Hi Katie! You do not click on that file inside of the MY file. If you want to change out your layouts and put in some new ones. you just open the MY file from where ever you have it, I keep all of mine on my desktop, then once you open it, you just drag that little file inside into your playerS file and over ride the current MY file. Since you are not familiar with doing this, I would most definitely BACK UP YOUR PLAYER FILE before you attempt this. Good Luck and let us know how you do! Hugs to ya!

Marilyn, guess I'm just dense but I can't seem to get this. There is a 'player file' in my game. That's what I save to my desktop and also sometimes email it to myself. Inside that player file is an icon that has 'my' under it. If my layouts are not in there, where are they and how do I get to them?

Hi Katie! If you have saved your MY files into zipped folders, which is what I do, then you open the zipped folder and drag the file inside of it that looks just like the MY file in your game, into your player file. IF you have renamed the MY file itself without putting it into a folder first, then you need to rename the file back to MY and drag it into your player file. It should look like the same thing that is in your game now. You drag that file into your player file, it will ask if you want to over ride the current MY file, you say yes, and your new LOs should be there. Good luck and let us know how you are doing!

Hi, Marilyn,
Well, Duh!!! as my grandkids would say. It just dawned on me as I was playing today that you have to put the my file back into the game in order to play the layouts. That's the only way to get to them. I read the instructions you gave but didn't grasp the 'put my file back into the game' part. Sometimes I just don't 'see' what's in front of me. Again thanks for your help. Another big Karma hug from me to you.
