Hi BT
It is grt to see you & yes i can answer yr question & no you havnt posted in the wrong place
I was in fact just coming in here to update
I have just been into another couple of forums discussing this very issue
A couple of people have posted in the past 24hrs about deleting the pointsmap - this is my response to thr posts -
Just to Clarify -
If you choose to do this: Please make sure you go online for the server to pull any points played offline BEFORE deleting any pointsmap (Thank You Connie
)
Yes deleting the pointsmap file & reopening the game creates a new pointsmap & shows the true values of the los
The pointsmap file is always 1kb - that is the size of the file for the game - it will only increase from that if there has been a whole lot of offline playing
The pointsmap works in bytes - a new pointsmap in a newly installed game will show 188 bytes with the 10kb default lo file of the game - as these los are played online the server logs the points of each 1 played - & if they are all played - the bytes in the pointsmap drops back to 2 bytes
Im an offline player - i play enough files for the bytes in the pointsmap to increase to eg:250 bytes - as soon as i go online - the server pulls the points - when i exit my game & check the pointsmap it is back to 2 bytes - therefore when the pointsmap was 250 bytes - they are stored points played - but not yet pulled by the server
Deleting the pointsmap if los are appearing as 500 can be done & is an easy & quick fix for those who play online - but this may also need to be done often - depending on how often the game is exited & reopened - as somtimes the game appears as all is well wen you open it - but the next time you open it it could be that the points are again at 500 - so deleting the pointsmap again is required to play
Because i play speedys & make & share a number of los - often im not aware what the points are going to do until im online & shared & bumped an lo - if it holds at the higher value when its bumped all is ok - but if it drops to 500 - exiting & deleting the pointsmap & re entering the game to continue is a pain - i want to know wen i go online to share that the points are going to be there so i prefer to pull in a copy of my player with the my file im going to share into my game - i often share more than 1 file so for me this is a quicker option
I havnt tried deleting the pointsmap wen iv added my next my file to share - so i might try that & run it that way a couple of times to see if it makes it an easier option again
But for playing i really do think it is a good idea to have an upto date backup that you can put a COPY of into yr game if after everything online is looking ok - only to find everything has decreased to 500 offline once you open yr game - this has happened to many - they have then pulled the player folder aside & used thr backup & then gone online with that folder also
My reason for saying this is - we dont know what is causing this problem in the first place & altho it is an easy fix to be deleting pointsmaps or exchanging folders to play we shouldnt have to be going to these extremes to do so
If & when Bfg or the servers do locate the problem & fix it - it could have repurcussions on our games & destroy the very player folders we are playing with - hence why i prefer to save & transfer the 'my' file into my playing game (which i always backup after every file i play) & delete the whole copy of the player folder in my sharing game - i do this as a precaution of not knowing what is yet to come
Further to that for those interested in doing so the following has appeared in the Bfg forum -
Re:All Layouts (New and Favorites) Show Value of 500 Pts -- Why?

Apparently this problem is seen only by players who played during the disruption caused by fire at the server center. In the next few days as soon as you see this problem would you send:
1. a copy of your player folder (in a .zip file)
2. any information you can provide about the problems you've seen
3. whether you played during July 2-5 (if you are sure)
4. in subject line please put MTE 500 PT PROBLEM
You can send this via the customer support page at
bigfishgames.custhelp.com/app/askThank you very much!
For those who dont know how to do this-
(view this thread for Vista -VISTA & POGO/OBERON V.1.2 PLAYER FILE & SHORTCUT in the How Do I...section
Note: if you dont have the oberon version the folder you are looking for is Mahjong Towers Eternity)
To find yr player folder in XP -
right clik Mahjong Towers Eternity game icon on yr desktop
Clik Properties
Clik Find Target
A new window should open - this is all of yr Mte game info
Clik 1 time on the "Player" folder - this highlights it
Right clik - scroll to "copy" - & clik it
Go to yr desktop
Right Clik & scroll to "paste" - & clik it
This should put a copy of yr player folder onto yr desktop - this is known as a 'backup' of your player folder
Close all windows by clicking the X at the top right corner - & ok for other windows
To zip the folder:
Right clik on the player folder on yr desktop
Scroll to "send to" & clik on "compressed (zip folder)"
This creates a zip file which is then uploaded as an "attachment" to yr email to Bfg
